With the Sola Pendant Light, designer David Trubridge ruminates on Icarus, the Greek myth about the boy who flew too close to the sun. Echoing the heat that melted the lad's wings, the shade's intricate pattern looks much like flares that form and curl on the solar surface. In sustainably sourced bamboo plywood in a natural finish or natural with an orange interior to heighten the fiery effect. First acclaimed at a Milan design fair installation, along with David's sculptural Wing light (also at A+R), and subsequently acquired by the Pompidou Centre in Paris for its permanent collection.
