An elegant Swedish pendant lamp from the 1930s, beautifully balancing the geometric restraint of early Modernism with the decorative refinement of Art Deco. Produced by an unidentified manufacturer but similar lampshades were produced by the Pukeberg glassworks for Arvid Böhlmarks Lampfabrik. The faceted opaline glass shade is decorated with stylized golden motifs that lend the fixture a sophisticated architectural character while softly diffusing the light. The original suspension is executed in beautifully patinated brass, including the brass ceiling canopy and brass socket, complementing the warm tones of the hand-decorated shade. A refined Scandinavian design that works equally well in both period interiors and contemporary settings.
