The Yakisugi LED Mini Pendant by Lasvit is named after and inspired by a technique used for preserving construction timber by charring its surface. Called Shou-Sugi-Ban or Yakisugi, this technique preserves wood without the need for painting it or sealing it, which has recently led to the revival of this process for use in eco-friendly architecture. Designed by renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, the visual aspects of this preserved timber are combined with centuries-old glass craft techniques to give the handsome, handblown glass pillar featured in this piece a cool, textural look that comes to life when illuminated.
