A rare cachepot signed by Antoine Montagnon, a prestigious Nevers faience workshop in France, late 19th century. This cachepot, which can be used directly as a vase, still retains its galvanized steel lining to protect the faience beneath. The typical Antoine Montagnon signature with its ribbon leaves no room for doubt. An identical piece is on display at the Albert Demard Departmental Museum, located in the Château de Champlitte in Haute-Saône. Its Medici shape is highly sought after, with its mascaron handles and its typical Nevers blue decoration. This piece has an attribution mark, I am sure that it is completely authentic and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
