Antique Oval Jardiniere, 1920s

Chairish

$289

This oval ceramic planter has an emblematic aesthetic of Art Nouveau. It is decorated with a delicate floral composition which evolves around its surface. The flowers seem to come to life from the base of the planter, where their stems are deployed to form lush leaves, finally culminating in magnificent pink flowers on the edge. The serrated contours of the planter evoke poetically the petals of the flowers. The interior of this remarkable piece is an elegant beige tone. This unique work of art was created by Gustave de Bruyn in Fives Lille, in the north of France, and it is proudly signed under its base. This ceramic planter perfectly embodies the characteristic elements of Art Nouveau, an artistic movement which favors inspiration in nature. The organic floral patterns that wrap around the planter reflect the fascination of this era for the beauty of nature. The attention paid to details is exceptional. The flowers that take shape from the base, with their stems transforming into leaves, symbolize the growth and vitality of nature. The culmination of superb pink flowers at the edge of the planter adds a romantic touch to this room. The serrated edges of the planter evoke with grace the texture of the flower petals. This subtle artistic touch adds a captivating visual dimension to the whole work. Dimension : 30cm x 16cm Height: 16.5cm
