Chairish

$999

Enamelled and glazed planter of the Gien Faience, city of the Loiret where the English industrialist Thomas Hall founded in 1821 the factory of the same name. The Faïencerie de Gien is a certified Living Heritage Company. Specialized in the manufacture of ceramics for 200 years, it is the largest earthenware factory in Europe. It made its reputation by manufacturing tableware with the coats of arms of the greatest families of France and Europe and the tiles of the Parisian subway, in 1930. The Rectangular Body with rounded corners of this container is covered with Polychrome Decorations with dominant Blue and Sand, on Black background. In the spirit of the Italian Renaissance, these illustrations show fantastic and imaginary characters, horns of Abundance intermingled in the middle of foliage. Reptilian and flying creatures animate this shimmering object. The edges of its opening are decorated with colored friezes. This finely faienced object is equipped with two handles, forming a Lion's Head grinning and sticking out its tongue. The Set rests on four Feet Lion Claw. On its white underside are written black letters interlaced, Signature of the Faïencerie de Gien, and the number "58". One will retain the Shimmering Chimerical Scenes of this Small Gardener with the multiple uses. You will take a certain pleasure to sow, populate or cultivate plants, flowers or others. ******** Period: End of XIXth / Beginning of XXth Excellent condition.
