Strong postmodern / Memphis-era energy—works beautifully as a statement decorative object, sculptural vessel, or art planter (use a liner if planting). John Gill (b. 1949, Renton, Washington) is an American ceramic artist and educator known for boldly colored, sculptural works that often begin with vessel forms and are developed through altered thrown elements and slab-built additions. He studied at Cornish School of Allied Arts, earned a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute (1973) and an MFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University (1975), and later taught at Alfred University’s ceramic program. Please note that we sell previously owned and vintage items. While the items we offer are in great condition oftentimes they do bear traces of their previous life and some signs of use should be expected.
