Antique Sheraton period card or game table, circa 1790-1820. Made from mahogany with crotch mahogany veneer, featuring an inlaid flip top octagonal demilune top supported by square tapered legs. Each leg showcases oval inlay over striping and stringing inlay. Once expanded the table is supported by the fourth leg which swings behind to hold the top. The "Card / Gaming Table" gets its name from its intended use. It is most often used while playing cards, backgammon, and chess. Tables of this type, by design, are small and narrow, intended to function as attractive pieces of furniture when not in use. Dimensions: 28.5"h x 35.5" x 17"
