Powered by the sun, the Metro Outdoor LED Post Light from Les Jardins gets one thinking about classic images as a design inspired by the vintage streetlights of European cities. It’s a piece by French creator Claude Robin, a designer whose work removes superfluous details in favor of a memorable silhouette. Robin starts by suggesting the tapered metal construction of the iconic Eiffel Tower with the post light’s angular structure. With the lamp head, Robin shifts away from the glass panel composition of traditional streetlights in favor of an open design that’s comfortable. LEDs and a solar panel top the lamp head. The LEDs distribute a wide spread of atmospheric light that enhances the graphic silhouette.
