Iron base, Structure with polystyrene-glass resin, Cement, Stucco.Weight: 60 kg Garden pouf is a gigantic pillow covered with various patterns of antique carpets that is made of mosaic.An outdoor pouf that will give particularity and color to the external spaces.Visually a soft pillow but the solid touch.This “seats” represents artist’s concept, the spectator is astonished by the contrast between the smooth “soft-like” look of volumes and textures in opposition to the hardness of the surface.It can be used both as a bench (for 2 people), as a coffee table, or both.All pieces are handmade, so the colours and shapes of the patterns may vary.The size of the pouf can be changed.Born in Niigata (Japan) in 1981, she graduated in Environment Design at the Tama Art University.She moved to Italy, to study the mosaic at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ravenna.The concept behind her body of work, is to reproduce with mosaic the textures of different kinds of material.Through the use of mosaic, she re-enacts the appearance and volume of wood or fabric, briefly deceiving the viewer's eye which, once touched the work, realizes it’s not what it seemed to be. This creates a particular kind of “imbalance” between what the viewers feel and what they see, creating surprise and amusement — the latter being a very important element, that must be present in the work.
