Antique English Mahogany Reclining Armchair With Green Leather Upholstery, 19th Century
Chairish$2,465
A handsome late Victorian reclining armchair, produced in England in the late 19th century, combining robust craftsmanship with a refined sense of comfort and form. The frame is constructed in solid mahogany, its warm tone and rich grain providing a striking contrast to the deep green leather upholstery. The chair is distinguished by its generously proportioned, button-tufted back and seat, upholstered in leather that has developed a soft patina over time. The diamond-pattern tufting, secured with evenly spaced buttons, creates a sculptural surface that enhances both visual depth and comfort. Brass stud detailing outlines the edges of the upholstery, adding a subtle decorative border while reinforcing the traditional craftsmanship of the piece. CONDITION In Good Antique Condition - Visible wear consistent with age and use. The leather shows creasing, surface wear, and areas of patina, including minor marks and discolouration. The wooden frame exhibits scratches, scuffs, and small areas of wear, particularly along the arms and legs. Please refer to photographs.
