After having succeeded in molding plywood, Charles and Ray Eames moved onto plastic. Here, they achieved even greater success by molding a single shell to support and cradle the human body. The Vitra Miniature RAR illustrates the culmination of this experimentation, with an armchair shell atop an intricate rocker base. The original rocker was released in 1950, and continues to be produced today.
