This three-panel Coromandel folding screen dates to the mid-20th century and reflects the Chinoiserie influence widely used in Hollywood Regency and mid-century modern interiors. Produced as a Chinese export piece, it is finished in black lacquer and decorated with applied hardstone figures, pagoda motifs, and gold-painted landscape details. The front side depicts a traditional Chinese genre scene with inlays of mother of pearl, jade, and scrimshaw, while the reverse is hand-painted with simple gold foliage, allowing the screen to be used freestanding and viewed from either side. The folding configuration includes two side panels measuring 18 inches each and a center panel measuring 36 inches wide, expanding to a total width of 72 inches when fully opened. Suitable for use as a room divider, headboard, privacy screen, or large-scale decorative accent.
