Japanese Chinese Two 2 Panel Gold Screen Byobu Foldable Black Lacquer Green Pine Tree Cloud
Chairish$995
This elegant Japanese screen is graced by a pine tree that leans outward from the right side and extends laterally toward the center of the composition. The gnarled, lichen-studded trunk and twisting branches contrast with the robust form of the pine and its bright green pine needles. A late winter is depicted here, for the small new pine needles herald the imminet arrival of spring. The background of the screen is a opaque gold silk fabric. The pronounced asymmetry of the composition, suggests a large pine tree on the right side. Strong and steady Calligraphy strokes in black and green of a well pruned Japanese black pine in the classic 'cloud' formation as in this hand painted antique Japanese 2 panelled screen conveys the subtle nuance of diurnal or seasonal shifts. Pine trees have long been popular in Chinese and Japanese paintings as icons of longevity. Wonderfully detailed yet subtle and tranquil in effect. 2-panel folding screen, silk, black lacquered frame.
