Kork Kashans are the benchmark modern Kashan weaves; the wool is lustrous and soft to touch. Fine Kork wool is hand-clipped from lambs that graze in the northern mountainous regions of Iran and sourced from the underbelly of the animal. Designs are usually intricate floral central medallion with spandrels, similar to Sarouks. Other design variations including, open field flowing designs and medallion design are also produced. Most Kashan rugs are woven with a red field and a contrasting navy blue border.
