This Haji Khalili antique Persian Tabriz area rug features an eight-point beige medallion floating inside a brown cusped trefoil center medallion anchored with finials at either end. The abrashed field is surrounded by an all-over pattern composed of small palmettes, arabesque vines, and an array of flowers. The elaborate spandrels are composed of delicate floral detail that echo the medallion while directing the viewer back toward the centre. It is enclosed in a variation of the palmette vine border flanked with inner and outer minor guard bands. From the intricately detailed border of intertwining botanical decorations to the grand-scale curvilinear pattern, the warm colors intimately blend with one another, enhancing the intimate patina in a more satisfying manner.
