Our story began in 1930 with founder Kaloust Aijian, an Armenian Genocide survivor who fled his village of Hadjin and came to America by way of France, arriving through New York Harbor. Kaloust first operated a rug boutique inside D.H. Holmes in New Orleans before relocating in 1946 to San Antonio, where he established Oriental Rug Gallery inside Joske's downtown store - laying the foundation for decades of growth in Texas.
