Early 20th Century Turkish Cicim Kilim Rug - 5'×12'

Chairish

$799

An absolutely beautiful vintage Cicim, hand-tied in Anatolia, Turkey in the early 20th century. A great benefit of a KIlim, is that they are reversible because of the methods the nomadic tribes use to make them by hand. It's just shy of being an antique, its age is around 80/90 years old. Excellent condition. Professionally ceaned prior to delivery. The idea of a Cicim is to embroider a kilim, a textile that was already created in the loom and composed of variously colored strips woven in ordinary cloth weave on a narrow loom and sewn together. The patterns are usually provided by brocading while on the loom. True Cicims may have stripes of colors, but will not have flowers or geometric designs. The composition of this piece is repeated vertical stripes of various size, done in many colors that complement each other, over a background that produces a wonderful mellow flow of perfectly subdued shades of the most charming colors, all light, warm, elegantly aged fading, with a rustic quality and warmth that's perfect for a romantic candlelight dinner or relaxed ambience. The fringe adds texture, contrast and a touch of refined elegant sophistication. Functional, versatile and useful, the handmade ruglike spread complements most all of today's contemporary interior styles, especially decoration with bohemian chic, lodge, cottage country, modern farmhouse, middle eastern Morrocan, Persian, and traditional furniture. be floor area rug, runner, entry piece, carpet or wall hanging, tapestry Dimensions: Approx 4'9" x 11'8" (5' × 12')
