Etched Zillu In Red & Cream

Etched Zillu in Red & Cream is a rectangular wool rug.‎This is a double-sided flatweave woven in two colours on a vertical wooden loom with a highly complex weaving structure (supplementary warps and wefts).‎ The motifs used in Zillus are geometric and abstract.‎ Our Zillus are made of wool yarns instead of the traditional cotton ones and complete our innovative and extensive Flatweaves collections.‎ Our Zillus are designed exclusively by the Iranian designer Soheila Shayegan based in Cyprus and are available in custom sizes and colour combinations.‎Zollanvari ‘minimalist’ kilims are diverse.‎ Baneh kilims are woven in northern regions in sections using natural undyed wools and then skilfully stitched together.‎ The one-piece Zagros kilims woven by the Luri and Ghashgha’i nomads are monochromatic.‎ They have traditional ‘lazy lines’ that form subtle patterns of diamonds and squares.‎ Maryam kilims, woven by the same tribes, have plain ground colours with repeat motifs hand-embroidered in pure silk, awarded Best Innovation at the CDAs in 2009.‎ The jewel in the crown of our ‘minimalist’ flatweaves is a collection that draws inspiration from the old and antique Mazandaran kilims that have appeared on the market in the past decade – a truly modern collection.‎ Caprino is a new flatweave collection woven from undyed goat’s hair on which pile-knotted erratic modernist lines in bright colours are superimposed.‎
