"My first memory of a rug is Aladdin's flying carpet magically helping you to fulfill you dreams.The day I was asked to design one, I lay down on the rug in my living-room just to feel it all over my body. I closed my eyes: I wasn't seeing, just sensing. Then I opened my eyes and I saw the elegant plasters decorating the ceiling of my entire apartment. Suddenly, I decided to transpose them onto a different canvas, 'to bring them down', literally. Or, maybe, I simply decided to take my carpet up. 'Take Me Up' is my first rugs collection and it draws inspiraton from the ceilings of my Milanese apartement.
