Leoni Guardiani 1 is a rectangular wool rug.‎The emblazoned Venetian cut velvet designs of guardian lions are the inspiration for SoFar SoNear Studio Milan in creating these 'gabbehs' for a contemporary audience.‎ In Persian mythology, the lion is a symbol of valour and sovereignty.‎ The SFSN interpretation updates the design of two affronted prancing lions amidst staggered ogival leafy medallions, floral ornaments and mythical winged griffins in vibrant colours rooted in Persian tribal lion gabbehs.‎ The mood here is achieved by using the finest abrash in the details creating a sense of movement.‎ Available in 3 colourways.‎ A quasi-naturalistic lion's head in ambush mode amidst profusely blooming hydrangeas and giant peonies… the inspiration?
