Cows are harvested for meat or die of natural causes. They are not harvested for the hide only. During the World Wars, people migrated to South America for safety. Along with this people took their animals to survive. Thus, for multiple generations, various breeds from many countries have cross bred, thus uniqueness of the hair on hides we see today. There are no 2 hides exactly alike. Breeds will be similar. Caring for a cowhide is very simple. Spills, simply clean up with blotting the spill. Vacuum sweeping or the current Rumba is safe as well. Long hair hides are a winter harvest. Short hair is a summer harvest.
