Rustic Khotan Turkish Rug, 4'08 X 8'06

This hand knotted wool distressed vintage Turkish rug features a prominent round medallion patterned with pomegranates like most carpets from Khotan and East Turkestan. The weathered red field hosts a variety of ambiguous tribal symbols heavily influenced from Chinese, Tibetan, Persian, Turkish and Turkmen designs. Iconic fretwork patterns emanate from the corner spandrels. The main border depicts Ruyi clouds and stripes with a fretwork guard border.
