Stalagmite

Stalagmites is a rectangular wool rug.‎The word stalagmite comes from the Greek stalagmites, which means ‘dropping, trickling’.‎ A stalagmite is a tapering column rising from the floor of a cave, formed of calcium salts deposited by dripping water.‎ This Dream Chants Collection design by Zollanvari Studio fuses a natural phenomenon with Spatialism founded by the painter, sculptor and theorist, Lucio Fontana, adding horizontal lines resonant of Aboriginal ‘Songlines’ that describe the directions of travel that were included in a song that travellers needed to memorise to know the route to their destination – true ‘cross-cultural’ art.‎
