A vintage Caucasian Soumak — a collectible flatweave built by wrapping colored wefts rather than knotting — carrying three columns of bold octagonal "Memling" güls, each latch-hooked medallion drawn in its own natural-dye colorway across a deep madder-red field. Woven in all wool with the crisp, embroidered-looking relief that sets Soumak apart from ordinary kilim. Colors move through madder red, indigo, ivory, olive and sage green, walnut brown, coral, and camel — a rich polychrome palette softened by natural abrash. It anchors a living room, dining room, gallery, or long entry, and layers into bohemian, eclectic, tribal, rustic, and collected-traditional interiors. All-wool Soumak flatweave with the loose weft-tails on the reverse that are original to the technique (not damage), and kilim-woven ends with wool fringe. Good vintage condition with soft, even age character; presents as an early-to-mid 20th century, semi-antique piece. Measures 10'7" x 5'3" (127 in. x 63 in.).
