The Jajim (cecim) technique, practiced in Turkey, Persia, and the Caucasus, involves a plain weave ground with an additional (supplementary) weft pattern. Typically, the wefts are discontinuous, cut off on the verso (back), allowing for the pattern to develop as the ground is woven on the loom rather than added afterwards like in embroidered rugs. This method facilitates the creation of repeating geometric patterns such as squares, lozenges, diamonds, stepped diagonal lines, and areas of plain color. The color palette of light taupe, terracotta, blue, ivory, and pink adds to the charm and versatility of Jajim rugs.
