This rug originates from Ushak in central-western Anatolia, just south of Istanbul. The Ushak rugs were strongly influenced by the Persian tradition. Ushaks are characterized by a thick knot and high pile weaving. Particularly the color palette, which is detached from tradition. The designs are generally based on geometric patterns with central medallion designs or smaller medallions positioned in various ways.
