This hand-knotted wool vintage Indo-Persian runner features three scalloped diamond-shaped medallions with palmette pendants floating on an abrashed field. The medallions, field, and spandrels are all decorated with a classic Herati pattern. The Herati pattern, also known as the Mahi or Fish pattern, is amongst the most widespread and well known of all oriental rug designs, consisting of a flower centered in a diamond accompanied by curving lanceolate leaves that resemble fish. The composition is framed by a Samovar turtle main border and floral meander guard borders.
