An extraordinary, rare and historic porcelain sculpture, this depiction of a half-nude Goth with a greyhound by his side was sculpted by Adolf (or Adolph) Amberg for KPM in 1905, to celebrate the wedding of Prussian Crown Prince Wilhelm to Duchess Cecilie of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. KPM was commissioned to create an extraordinary procession of about 17 figures, two on the backs of an ox or horse, and the others walking, often semi-nude and accompanied by animal figures. This figure of a Goth and hound is extraordinarily rare, and is both sensual and tender; the Goth's robe is slipping off his hips, while he looks tenderly after his companion. Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur (or KPM) was famous for the high quality of its porcelain art ware, and its plaques are now highly sought after today. The full set of processional figures is on display at the Bröhan Museum in Berlin, Germany.
