Deeply inspired by Japanese art, he traveled to Japan where he met several master ceramicists — a formative experience that led him to pursue life as a full-time artist. In 1966, he opened a studio in West Los Angeles, where he began painting large-scale abstract works. After relocating to Sonoma County, Tony founded several creative ventures: Evans Ceramics in 1983, Evans Designs in 1988, and Fusion Z in 1992.
