1992 David Coddaire Contemporary Vases Sculpture Pair

Chairish

$4,825

A fabulous pair of verdigris iron sculptures by Italian-trained and Oakland, California-based artist David Coddaire (d. 2012). The sculptures are a wonderful asymmetric pair, with the larger 60" tall, 11.5" wide, with a 10" square base, and the smaller 58.5" tall, 9.25" wide, with a 9.5" square base. Signed and dated on the larger in the last photo (very faint). Sculptures display an organic and inorganic shape in brilliant green verdigris. Coddaire was known for his one of a kind steel sculptures that were said to “…reveal movement and strength through texture and color.” With a sensibility reminiscent of a Tim Burton set, Coddaire's designs are tactile and playful yet manage to invoke a true feeling of sophistication and movement. The strong, elegant lines that form each aspect of this collection are enhanced with bold texture and color that challenges traditional contemporary style. These pieces breathe with a startling energy that will add an unmistakably unique touch to your personal environment. David Coddaire was an acclaimed sculptor whose work has been exhibited in the U.S. and Europe, and he is the recipient of the prestigious Gianni Grant for the Arts in Venice, Italy.
