$1,040

Decorate a man's desk or a shelf with this antique dog and bird sculpture. Created in France circa 1870, and standing on an integral oval base, the sculpture composition depicts a setter holding a duck in his mouth; the sculpture is not signed but attributed to French sculptor "J. Moigniez". The dog figure is in excellent condition, and adorns a rich patinated bronze finish. A wonderful addition for any ranch house or hunting lodge! Jules Moigniez (1835-1894) was a French animalier (animal) sculptor who was active during the 19th century. His output was primarily cast in bronze and he frequently exhibited his sculptures at the Paris Salon. He was best known for his bronzes depicting birds, although his skill and versatility enabled him to produce quality horse sculptures (primarily racehorses), dog sculptures and hunting scenes. His bird sculptures were among the finest ever created during his time. Listed in the Benezit (see last picture). Measures: 8.5" W x 3.5" D x 8" H.
