20th Century Child And Frog In Porcelain Ceramic From Cortendorf, Germany

Chairish

$194

A delightful sculpture depicting a child talking to a frog, made of cast ceramic (ceramic with the addition of kaolin, also known as soft porcelain) glazed with engobe, thus giving it a slightly satin finish. Made by the German Cortendorf factory, it is marked under the base with a crowned "C" and the word "Cortendorf" immediately below, dating to around 1930. The patina on the object is beautiful, especially under the base, perfectly consistent with our dating. The child's hat is also beautiful, its surface entirely hand-hammered. The child's posture is very reminiscent of the Hummel figurines made by the Goebel factory. This piece has an attribution mark, I am sure that it is completely authentic and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
