Severance is a contemporary steel sculpture by artist Nicholas Turner, defined by a singular vertical form interrupted by a precise diagonal displacement. Two geometric volumes shift past one another, creating structural tension while maintaining balance and composure. The composition emphasizes proportion, alignment, and controlled division, resulting in a restrained yet commanding architectural presence. Crafted from steel and finished in a fine-texture matte black powder coat, the sculpture features a light-absorbing surface that sharpens the clarity of its planes and edges. The matte finish enhances durability while preserving a refined appearance suitable for both interior and exterior environments. Conceived as a freestanding spatial object, Severance engages with light, shadow, and surrounding architecture. This work is part of the artist’s Obsidian Series, a body of work focused on architectural form and material restraint. Each piece is fabricated individually in the artist’s studio. This work is made to order with an estimated production lead time of 4–6 weeks. Weight: approximately 130 lbs.
