Noted for his skill by the large houses working in bronze in Paris such as Barbedienne or Denière, it did not take long for him to receive numerous orders for decorative objects: candelabra, clocks, fireplace trims, etc. Carrier-Belleuse devoted much of his time to sculpture and contributed to the decoration of important buildings, such as the pediment which surmounts the main entrance to the Bank of France, the frieze of the Palais de la Bourse in Brussels, for the Paris opera house, he created, among other things, 2 monumental torchieres for the grand staircase.
