Bronze proof with brown patina, replica of the Roman marble sculpture attributed to Praxiteles (circa 395-326 B.C.), discovered during excavations in 1792 at Gabies, Italy. It depicts Artemis, goddess of hunting and nature, wearing a short chiton with wide sleeves. She is shown about to fasten her cloak. As is customary in ancient art, the goddess is staring into space.
