"Angel Fish, " Large, Stunning Technicolor Art Deco Sculptures, Occupied Japan
$3,700

This pair of technicolor-hued Art Deco angel fish sculptures -- glazed in hues of gold, dark pink, cobalt, sea green and canary -- was made in Japan between 1945 and 1951, when American forces occupied the nation after World War II and required that goods made there be marked "Occupied Japan." The "TM" mark indicates the maker, which clearly made a series of ambitious, boldly-decorated items for the home in the late 1940s. We have never seen anything like these before.
