Antinoo Head Sculpture

Deftly handmade of gypsum rendered with the marbling technique, which dates back to Ancient Roman times especially typical of the Pompeian paintings, this sculpture depicts Antinoo, a Bithynian Greek young boy beloved by the Roman emperor Hadrian, and the origin of an exceptional iconographic series.
