Antique Patinated Spelter Figure Of A Young Laborer With Tool, C. 1900–1920

Chairish

$697

This antique figurative sculpture depicts a young working boy, captured mid-gesture and holding a hand tool, rendered with expressive realism and strong narrative character. The figure wears period work attire—rolled sleeves, belt, and hat—standing atop a textured rocky base that enhances the sense of movement and purpose. Cast in spelter (white metal) and finished with a warm bronze-tone patina, the sculpture shows excellent surface depth and honest age wear. The underside reveals original mounting bolts, consistent with early 20th-century European production. This type of subject matter—working youth or laborer—was especially popular in France and Belgium during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A compelling decorative object well suited for collectors of figurative sculpture, industrial or labor themes, and classic European décor. Estimated Date of Manufacture: Circa 1900–1920.
