Bronze Sculpture Of Antikythera Youth

Chairish

$825

The original Anitkythera Youth, also know as The Ephebe, was discovered in a shipwreck in 1900 off the Greek island of Antikythera, dating back to 340 B.C., and now resides in the National Archaeological Museum of Athens. This is a fine copy of the original sculpture which was discovered in the shipwreck. It is believed to be a young man, likely a god or a hero, in a moment of relaxed yet poised stance. The figure stands with a slight tilt of the head, his left leg slightly forward, his right arm raised, and his expression calm and serene. Figure stands on a white pedestal with the inscription "Anticythera's Youth 340 B.C.". Very nice aged patina.
