We are offering for sale this great Italian grand tour bronze. This bronze features the biblical figure of David and is cast after the famous original by Michelangelo Buonarotti. The very famous and massive sculpture was done in a Greek style originally by Michelangelo, which causes the head to be slightly oversized at various scales. It is for this reason that there are very few examples of smaller bronzes of the Subject as the proportions are slightly off when miniaturized. We have never personally seen another Grand tour example of the subject in our own hands. This version we believe dates to the first half of the 19th century but could be earlier as there are some old repairs to the legs and some old copper plugs to flaws in the original casting.
