Rene Papa, French sculptor 19th - 20th century bronze sculpture, 1930s. A bronze with green patina sculpture of birds flying on a sea wave on a base of black marble. Signed right back. The birds are separate and mounted loose by pin on the wave. Consisting of 3 elements. The marble base has some dents. The measurement is 51.5 cm high, 73.5 cm wide and 30 cm deep. (1 Inch = 2,54 cm). The total weight is approx. 21 kilograms. Rene Papa is a French school (Art Deco period) well-known artist-sculptor. Professor of sculpture and drawing at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Also made numerous creations for the city of Paris. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
