Large sculpture of left profile in Pyrenean marble. from 1938 onwards, George Braque devoted himself almost exclusively to sculpture. In 1940, he left Varengeville for the Limousin and then South Toulouse, settling in Caujac. It was in this commune that he took refuge in order to be in the free zone and create freely. This sculpture comes from a private collection in Caujac. During this period, Braque was fascinated by Egyptian reliefs, and it was these that inspired his so-called left-profile creations. It is signed on the right in the thickness of the marble and dated 1945. A rare collector's and investment piece!
