Chairish

$5,320

This magnificent Art Deco bronze panther by Georges Lavroff (1895–1991) is one of the most striking examples of French animal sculpture from the Art Deco era. Born in Russia and later active in France, Lavroff became renowned for his powerful interpretations of wildlife and his masterful sense of movement. Created around 1925, the sculpture perfectly captures the elegance and dynamism associated with Art Deco design. The panther's elongated body and fluid contours create a powerful visual impression while maintaining remarkable sophistication. Cast in bronze with a rich green patina, the sculpture displays exceptional craftsmanship and refined modelling. It is mounted on an elegant Belgian Black marble base, a material frequently associated with prestigious Art Deco decorative arts. Today, Georges Lavroff is considered one of the foremost Art Deco animal sculptors. His works are highly sought after by collectors of French decorative arts, animalier sculpture and twentieth-century design. This particular model is illustrated in the reference book Georges Lavroff by Kastelyn and Mazzucotelli, further confirming its significance and collectability. An outstanding collector’s piece combining strength, elegance and timeless Art Deco design.
