Grand Tour Bronze of Narcissus from Italy. A beautifully refined cast with verdigris patina overall. Very delicate details of hands, feet, sandals, and hair. The plinth is shown in very fine detail of the classical leaf—excellent condition with original hand-formed bolts to the underside. The top surface of the plinth has a hand inscription " Caggiano Napoli".. A copy of the original bronze discovered in Pompeii, 1862. Understood now to be Dionysus by the imagery. This is believed to be an early bronze, cast after the discovery. Size 10" diameter of the base and 25" tall.
