Horse Head Sculpture Clear

Gracious Style

$37,000

Originally designed by Marc Lalique in 1953, the majestic Horse's Head sculpture demonstrates the exceptional know-how of the master craftsman. This outstanding figure is made of 54 pounds of pure, sparkling crystal. To obtain its spectacular and contemporary shine, Lalique glass master workers, as true sculptors, carve the piece by hand during more than 3 days and then polish it carefully for many hours. The beauty of the artist’s gesture is part of his quest for excellence. Trained as a jeweler at the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs in Paris in the late 1880's, Rene Lalique gained recognition as an independent designer for some of the era's great jewelry houses including Cartier and Boucheron. Eventually, he turned to glassmaking, and his techniques were a triumph for the Art Deco movement. Every piece of Lalique is finely detailed and produced by hand in Alsace, France.
