Jose Chardiet Signed 1986 Postmodern Art Glass Table Sculpture With Lighted Base

Chairish

$2,000

A modern glass table sculpture by Jose Chardiet. Etched signature and dated 1986 on the underside. The vertically oriented form features layered, kiln-worked glass with mottled surfaces in earthy browns contrasted by luminous turquoise and clear window-like apertures. When illuminated from the base, the sculpture activates internally, revealing depth and shifting tonal effects that emphasize Chardiet’s sculptural approach to glass. Both functional and sculptural, the work reflects Chardiet’s reputation for integrating light, structure, and surface into cohesive compositions. A strong example of late 20th-century studio glass, it stands as a refined and collectible work by an influential figure in contemporary art glass. Dimensions: 6 inches tall, and 4 x 4 inches wide. The base measures 1.75 inches, and 3.5 x 3.5 inches wide. In very good condition. Jose Chardiet (b. 1935) is a Cuban-American artist internationally recognized for his innovative contributions to contemporary art glass. Trained in architecture, Chardiet brought a structural and geometric sensibility to kiln-formed glass, helping to expand the medium beyond traditional vessel forms. His work has been widely exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the United States and Europe and is held in major public collections, including the Corning Museum of Glass. Chardiet has received numerous awards and fellowships throughout his career, and his pioneering role in the Studio Glass movement has secured his reputation as a leading figure in late 20th-century art glass.
