Painstakingly handcrafted by artist Angelo Salemi, this ceramic sculpture is shaped like a pinecone as a concrete homage to Sicilian traditional folklore: pinecone statuettes used to be placed at the sides of newlyweds' beds, wishing them a fertile and happy marriage. An elegant and shimmering base enveloped in gold leaf sustains the drop-like ensemble of scales, minutely rendered and fully glazed in glossy verdigris.
