This stunning large Songye Kifwebe Mask hails from DR Congo and has a height of 27.5", a width of 12", and a depth of 9". It is elaborately carved and features striations, pigment, and meshwork. Kifwebe is the Songye term for 'Mask'. Linear incisions often decorate its face and may be pigmented. A rounded or square mouth often protrudes from the mask, while a central crest determines if it is masculine or feminine.
