Larry Mohr, American (1921 - 2013) Painted Metal Sculpture Abstract Construction Hand signed, dated and titled (signature is a bit faint) Bars II Sketch 1982 Dimensions: 18.5" x 24.5" x 19" Provenance: Estate of Larry Mohr. Larry Mohr (American, 1921-2013) was an accomplished Bronx-born sculptor known for his large-scale bronze and aluminum abstract geometric artworks composed of welded and bolted I-beams as well as carved marble sculpture. His work bears a similarity to Alexander Liberman and Alexander Calder. His works are in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Georgia Museum of Art, Vassar College, and the Herbert F. Johnson Museum at Cornell University. He was also a major collector whose collection included Larry Rivers, Paul Jenkins, Alex Katz, Barry McGee, Jacques Duval-Brasseur, Willy Daro, Paul Evans and Piero Fornasetti. This work has a Memphis Milano vibe to it. Mohr served in World War II and retired from the reserves as a major.
